I find TIME magazine covers very tempting! Although I love reading TIME, I find myself sometimes falling for the covers and stacking up TIME magazines without reading them. I think TIME is one-of-a-kind. Very lite, easily digested. Check out the BEST time covers according to time.com.

Yesterday, I attended the first training session of Milan Soccer School in Kuwait. The training took place in Dasma at Hasan Abul fields which I believe is the best outdoor soccer complex I’ve seen in Kuwait so far. The training is divided into 2 groups; Group A & Group B. Group A is from ages 12-16 whereas Group B is from 6-11. Of course, each group trains separately at different timings. The technical staff consist of 3 Italian coaches(2 head coaches, 1 Goalkeeper trainer) and Jassim Al Huwaidi as a coach from Kuwait. There is also a specialized fitness coach. In addition, there are 2 supervisors out of the field to handle parents and all ‘out of the field’ related issues. I’m in no position of judging the quality of training, but I enjoyed the overall atmosphere. Here are some of the images that I took.
Finally, the best players will get the chance to travel and train with AC Milan Soccer School in Italy.
I’m not sure if this is new, but Pick your Tag is a local online store that sells unique gifts items, fun kitchenware, and cool accessories. What caught my attention is that they make unique bracelets which they call mini Egal or (i3gal). For those of you who don’t know what’s egal; it’s an accessory constructed of cord which is fastened around the ghutra to hold it in place. They are available in several colors and they sell them for 3 KD each.
I actually laughed when I read this at OhGizmo. Heinz had finally decided (after more than 40 years) to give the classic ketchup packet a facelift. The new ketchup packet will be bigger than the classic packet. It holds 3 times as much as the traditional packet. In addition, opening the new packet is much easier than the current one. You can either open it to dip or to squeeze. I remember my friend AMK used to struggle a lot every time he tries to open the classic ketchup packet.
You already heard of course. Dr. Saad Al Barrak has resigned from ZAIN (Mobile Telecom. Co). During the time in Lebanon, Dr. Saad was hosted at LAU to give a seminar. I went along with FAH and OZM to that lecture; and we had all agreed that it was by far the best seminar we had ever attended. Apart from being technically gifted in his field, Dr. Saad is one of the best speakers/lecturers I’ve ever attended a lecture for, not to mention his amazing and genuine sense of humor. His seminar at LAU 3 years ago, was one of the best held there – students ditched their classes and instructors cancelled their lectures in order to attend. A week later, LAU hosted a risk manager from Citi Bank, not only that his mobile interrupted the lecture a dozen times, but he was definitely humbled when compared to Dr. Saad.
Rumors surface every morning about just any current news in the last 24 hours. I’m sure most of you have read tens of reports on the reasons behind the resignation, let alone the next potential destinations where the telecom guru will be heading. I personally heard one rumor which sounded interesting. Kingdom Holding Company, owned by Prince Al Waleed is the next destination.
The first mile was to relocate his office to Bahrain for governmental issues; now Dr. Saad is linked to a job in Saudi. I personally guess that he will take time-off for the time being, but I’m very sure that no matter how personal the issue is, Zain committed a huge mistake as Dr. Saad is by far one of the best executives in the region. What a waste of talent!
I just wanted to let you know that our friends at SomeContrast are facing some technical difficulties with their blog. Yousif and Mishary are currently working to get things back to normal! We will update you when it goes back live:)
Finally the wait is over. We along with several bloggers are invited tomorrow to attend a sneak peek of Soccer Scene’s first store in Kuwait (Avenues Mall). The official opening will be on Thursday, February 4th from 6pm- 8pm. I have heard from the owners that there will be a lot of cool stuff going on during the opening so don’t miss it. I will visit them soon, so stay tuned for an update!
update:
Alvaro visited soccer scene yesterday here are some photos!
I should’ve posted about this earlier, but here is another reason for people to buy an iPhone. Dan Woolley, a father of 2 boys survived the earthquake in Haiti with the help of an iPhone app. Woolley got stuck under the ruins of Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince… He was heavily bleeding from his head and leg, but then, Woolley remmebered that he had previously installed the first aid app on his iPhone, so he took his phone out and started following the instructions to stop the bleeding from both his head and foot. Dan Woolley was stuck under the bridge for more than 60 hours, but thanks to his iPhone app, he managed to get out of there alive:)
I bet women are gonna love this. I just received a copy of the first bridal magazine in Kuwait. The magazine is called Hannayome and the idea behind it is to help all Brides prepare for their weddings. Tomorrow will be the official launch for publication and I have been told that there will be a small exhibition too! The event will be held at Dar Al Faris (Jewellery Showroom) in Shuwaikh opposite to Living Colors/ Al Tilal complex From 6:30pm-9:30pm.
Check out the gallery below, make sure you read some of the stories;p
One more thing….
So.. why did they call it hannayome? Well apparently, Hannayome means Bride in Japanese and also when you read it in Arabic it’s “Hanna + Youmi” which means a happy day.
Today, February 1st 2010, Buzberry turns 3 years old. It all started as a hobby that developed to be an interesting obligation to uncover issues that tackle our simple everyday life. Our mission is to offer a diverse perspective on a variety of topics to serve our cosmopolitan generation.
To mark our 3rd anniversary, we have polished our layout and added some key features, one which you obviously saw is the featured articles bar up there. Another interesting thing that was thankfully able to happen is something down there. Stop reading scroll all the way down there check it out and comeback. Now.. we are waiting. If you made it back here: what you saw down there is a navigation bar that displays the photos of posts on the next page, and every other next page on the next page you are at! Now instead of going through every page, you can simply use the search bar we added in the header.
We have also worked on a couple of other small features which you will notice with time. Apart from taking out the Archives tab out of the way to the bottom of the page, we have revamped the categories arrangement into a friendly drop-down menu. Other things include font enhancements and spacings for you to comfortably skim through posts.
We would like to first of all thank Studio Untitled (Dee & F) for the their tolereance, their tolerance again, and their tolerance once again. And we would like to thank Design Box (Robin) for implementing whatever Studio Untitled had designed.
We hope you liked our new layout and happy birthday Buzberry!
It all popped up at the right time, and don’t tell me it won’t affect the team, it has changed the outcome for Brazil, specifically in 1998.
Chelsea and (former?) England Captain (left) has been caught having an affairwith his [friend and ex-Chelsea teammate] Wayne Bridge’s (right) ex-girl Vanessa Perroncel (middle). A few months back , the same happened to Ashley Cole, who cheated on his wife Cheryl Cole. Now this is the scenario I have in mind: Although John Terry scored Chelsea’s winning goal last night, it does not mean he has put aside his personal issues, nor did Cole. Flipping the page to Manchester United, who I believe are fighting for all the 4 available trophies they can get their hands on and are fiercely fighting, one key player is on top of his game; Wayne Rooney and his Man Utd buddies are believe to be in their peak. If you don’t see what I’m getting to then here is it fair and simple. With Wayne Rooney being the indispensable player at the National and club stage - being all over the field from tonight until June, his engine might go bust and a garage visit is upcoming, if not now maybe tomorrow, maybe in April. In other words, with Rooney having his eyes on the February 28 Carling Cup final against Aston Villa, and a record 4th successive Premeir League title along with breaking his record of goals per season he is putting hell of a show and an injury is on the cards.
With Wayne Rooney possibly injured, Ashley Cole and John Terry focusing on personal issues, everyone is looking at a new leader in the form of Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard. Oh but isn’t Liverpool suffering right now? If Liverpool fail to find form and qualify to the Champions League next season, Gerrard’s time at Liverpool would be at stake. As a result, underperforming in the World Cup is the least that could happen due to instability.
Last time around, they[ENGLAND] had the full package but lacked the trainer. This time they have the best manager out there, but let’s hope that Rooney stays up, City remain fifth, and Terry a faithful husband.
