I’m sure most of you have already played or at least heard of Monopoly Deal? Well over the past couple of weeks we’ve been introduced to another version of Monopoly Deal, that is the Hong Kong version.

The difference comes, of course, in propoerty names; but that’s not all. With a dozen of new cards added including

- You Inherit
- Double Sly Deal
- Speeding Fine
- Pay My Rent
- Go to Jail

I still like the original version for a couple of reasons starting with the new action cards. I think they make life easier for you to kill you opponent much earlier than you would in the original Monopoly Deal. With the original one, the game last longer and the tension rises. The Hong Kong version on the other hand is just less competitive, I felt.

It sells for around KD12-15, but I do know someone that sells it for KD10 instead.

I have been waiting for this to happen.. Jazeera Sports on the iPad. You can watch all of Al Jazeera Sports channels on your iPad. Yes that includes the premium channels as well.. Al Jazeera +1, +2, etc.. The video quality is great. Now the cool thing is that if you have the new Apple TV at home, you can also AirPlay the matach to your TV. It works perfectly!

You have to subscribe through the App Store to get Al Jazeera Sport premium channels. The annual subscription costs $50.

Story: It’s been exactly 2 months since the GulfRun 26-Hour Endurance Karting race was over, and still Wataniya & GulfRun keep on running away with the fame and publicity. October 31st, 2011, Wataniya boasts about their social responsibility in press releases around the country. This is what came out:

“Out of the twenty two participating teams, the top three teams were awarded with prizes and medals by Wataniya Telecom. The three teams who finished the race first were: Gulf cable racing team, Scuderia racing team [our team], Agshar racing team.” link.

Reality? ‘Some’ of us got Audi branded USB flash drives, and every team got a one plastic-crafted shield to share. Wataniya? they took photo. Awards, prizes, and medal is a completely made-up story. I personally got 2 phone calls only since from Wataniya starting from December saying that we have andriod phones for each team. We personally haven’t seen anything yet from Wataniya.

Verdict: It’s a shame that the top three teams worked o hard to achieve this result. I don’t know much about the 1st place, but Agshar Team had serious mechanical issues with their car, yet ended in a solid 3rd place. As for our team, we were complete underdogs. I never had so much fun in Kuwait, ever. But it’s a shame that every team has spent no less than KD3,000 and in the end everyone was used. This is business as usual here isn’t it?

I have always tried to maintain the default first page by Apple on my iPhone ever since iPhone 1 back in 2007. It was like a norm, you had to keep clock, camera, calendar, weather calculator on the first page in the order you found the iPhone out of the box. As those icons/apps changed, some people maintained their original/default dock (Phone – Mail – safari – Music [iPod] ). I feel always need to quickly jump to Settings, phone of course, and messages (with iMessage now), and for some reason Music.

It would be interesting to see what are the preferences of people nowadays with millions of Apps in store. How does your dock look like?

Let me get one thing straight: One, I’m no politician; Two, I care nothing for politics; and Three, I am one of many individuals in this society that cared nothing about Kuwait’s National Assembly in previous years.

Don’t get me wrong, I developed this way not because I am ignorant nor that I don’t want a better Kuwait or a better future for all of us, however, I became this way because I truly believe that the National Assembly also known as Majles Al Umma not only lost its prestige, but has been utilized for propaganda as well as ulterior motives by several of the prior politicians.

I honestly care about my country and I do think that we deserve a more stable environment more so now than ever; however, after witnessing a million dismissals of the Majles in previous years, I reached a point where I genuinely believe that the presence of this “Majles Al Umma” has become more of a burden in Kuwait than a haven.  It has become a cause for segregation, a cause for unnecessary violence, but more importantly a cause for a pessimistic mentality within our country which is becoming an epidemic.

I must admit I do fear my future as well as my children’s futures.   However with that said, I have come to witness a glimpse of hope these couple of weeks, a sense of joy, optimism, and history-in-the-making I must say.  I have attended a couple of dewaniyas the past month, during which several candidates would visit and enlighten us with their backgrounds while clearly defining their agendas for the upcoming national assembly elections. I wasn’t impressed with what I saw, perhaps my standards were high, but perhaps the candidates weren’t that good as well.  However, one candidate struck a chord and I am proud to admit that had he run in my district, I would be the first in line to vote for him.

His name:  Mr. Mishari Mohammed Al Osaimi

I must admit, his father-like presence won me during the first 20 seconds of him speaking.  More significantly when he spoke, I felt a sense of pride, an immense amount of culture, but most importantly history was right in front of me.  His wealth of experience, unquestionable knowledge, and his elegance was extremely vivid.  All of which are characters that we are missing vastly nowadays.  I envisioned a better Kuwait with his presence, and further a better Majles with him in it; as he will not only add value but he will revert the prestige (الهيبة) back to the Majles again.

He spoke of the time he questioned the Minister of Finance back in one of his runs, and emphasized that even though the grilling took place, it happened in a civilized manner, which is why his relationship with the Minister remained intact nonetheless. That example in itself bolstered my confidence in him.

It is also important to note that the last time he was elected to the Majles was in 2003, and he has returned after 9 years to the scene which proves that Mr. Al Osaimi does in fact see a bright future ahead, and so should we.

I initially thought it was just another version of mahalbiya (milk-based pudding), but it seems that Aish el Saraya (Egyptian dessert) is well more than that. It’s more sweeter and softer than mahalbiya AND it has fruity lower layer which I couldn’t familiarize myself with.

I had fun last night watching the AC Milan Soccer School coaches playing a match of football tennis against players from the Kuwaiti National Team at Salhiya Complex. It was a cool game! The rules are so much fun.. I have never played it before – it’s a mixture of football, tennis, and volleyball. The national team players that played last night were Waleed Ali, Ahmad Ajab, Abdulaziz Al Mashaan, Yousef Nasser, and Fahad Al Ansari(injured). Each team had 4 players a-side and the game lasted for almost an hour!! AC Milan involved some of their young players too..  Note- Jassim Al Huwaidi is part of the AC Milan coaches.. I’ve never imagined Tabasco being in the chocolate business..!  My colleague at work made me try it and although the idea sounded very weird the taste wasn’t bad at all.. It’s made of dark chocolate and it’s kind of spicy too. I mean not very spicy, but you’ll feel this small hot burn in your mouth as if you are having peppermint candy..

I’ve been seeing this car around lately. I initially thought that it’s an ugly car. Don’t know if it’s the fact that its rarely on the streets, but this vehicle looks hot on the street.
