The Un-reachable Fire!

fire_meaney2

A building in Kuwait City bursted into flames at about 7:00 pm today. It is reported that the building is still under construction, therefore no human casualties are tallied as of yet. The building was located behind ‘The Commercial Bank,’ which lies opposite of the Kuwait Stock Exchange – as I was told. The good part is that the fire department (about 15 officers – as one eyewitnesses reported) stood there watching the building burning in flames and destroying a nearby building because they don’t have adequate equipment to reach the top of the building where the fire was located.

* 9:45 pm: while driving back to home, I witness three huge fire trucks heading to Kuwait City.

** I eye-witnessed the fire from the rooftop of my friend’s house, about 500-600 meters away!!

Merci

iPhone Users: Enjoy your "$560 brick?!"

iphone2007_b

I
n the ongoing battle between Apple and those who have successfully unlocked the iPhone, it was announced recently that this action could be extremely harmful to iPhone owners. Apple has announced that unlocking the iPhone could put you at risk of loosing the ability to download upgrades and new features. Although according to a company spokesperson, Apple is not currently taking action against those devices that have been unlocked.

To solve this crises, Apple announced that future editions of the iPhone will include a feature that disables the iPhone once new programming is downloaded. For example, the new edition to be released next week, enabling users to purchase music from iTunes using one single button, will be out of reach to unlocked phone unless you plan destroying it!

As Ben Wood, Director of
CCS Insight research firm puts it, “you could find that you own a $560 brick.”

Caution!

Brembo_01

I
drove the new SRT Grand Cherokee a week ago, an amazing car. However, I felt a bit suspicious on the brakes. I didn’t have a good feeling about their performance and concluded that the brakes felt weak, compared to the monster engine. I was told the SUV was equipped with Brembo brakes. This link might explain to the problem. Check it out! Merci.

Fire Addict

The prospect of seeing Corvette fire fighters can now be met in Dubai. The Civil Defense Department had adopted the Corvette C6 as a vital instrument to reach fire scenes and car entrapments in a faster way, aiming to rescue victims and offer first aid until the fire trucks arrive. The aim is to decrease the time from fire stations to fire scenes, where the Chevy is equipped with ‘fire extinguishers and hydraulic equipment and first aid kits.’
Grazie!

SES (Summer 'Estejwab' Syndrome)

KUW-coat-of-arms-logo

Why don’t they yestajweboon the minister of interior?
Hawalli’s monster (wa7sh 7awalli) has been free for about one year, committing crimes all year long. More importantly, we continue to have severe issues of traffic control. And if they really mean it, why did the recent incident of
intelligence forces attacking and brawling with a journalist pass by as if nothing happened?

Why don’t they yestajweboon the minister of education?
The quality of education in Kuwait really sucks. True, I’m not the person with the expertise and qualities to judge a ministry, but unlike the more developed world, in Kuwait you can easily judge a book by its cover. When it comes to “wasta” in scholarship’s for family who study at a non-accredited university I can judge a ministry.
When it comes to the attempt of closing-down a private school when one’s son acts like a jerk, yes I can even judge a government.

Why did they decide to yestajweboon the minister of health?
I have no Idea! It was really funny when I read the resigned minister of health was threatened to be mistajweba not only for the horrific fire at Jahra hospital, but also for sending patients for treatment in foreign countries, which the ministry grants to tourists!
As if the minister was responsible for the fire when she was appointed 4 months ago.

Above all, she is held responsible in a way or so; which takes us to round one: why wasn’t the hospital equipped with the adequate emergency technology? Here again, the minister of interior is held responsible in a way. But if you think of it that blame lies on the head of the minister of education who is in somewayresponsible for not educating people to vote effectively. Grazie!

*With all due respect to the casualties, and late men who died in the fire may God have mercy on their souls and reward them in heaven; but someone had to be a victim of pointing fingers.

iCar....?

Steve Jobs on Newsweek

Certain reports coming from Germany state that both Volkswagen and Apple Inc., are working together on a common project to be known as the "iCar."

Volkswagen's spokesperson confirmed that a meeting was held recently in California with Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs regarding this project. It is reported that the project is in its early stages. Observers say that the "iCar’s" price would be around 6500 Euros.

Brazil Vs. US and It's NOT a Joke!

15399

I recently came across something two important facts: First, the US has a National Football Team (yes I refuse to call it soccer). Second, they are playing the Brazilian National Team tomorrow in Chicago.

I am not a big sports fan, not a sports fan at all really. But I certainly know that the stakes are higher for Brazil than they are for the US. ‘Sporty’ reasons set aside, Brazil-like the rest of the world-actually cares about football. Americans, on the other hand, are probably rooting for the game because it’s being hosted in Chicago (a very beautiful city with lots to do and there just happens to be a football match going on).

I have to give it to American ‘internationalism’ they form a national team for a game they refuse to refer to as the rest of the world does, and then they play against one of the world’s forefront soccer teams. I am guessing if Brazil doesn’t win, the results will have more to do with
“loans and interests,” more so than the game itself!

While We Were Sleeping

cowonstick

We are finally back, Buzberry fans! We’ve taken a little break ourselves, some to rest and others to read, and it was a long overdue break so we hope you’ll accept our apology.
We always like to keep you in tact on what’s going on in the world and our thoughts, so we’ll be doing so-SOVIET STYLE-(always late and overdue).

Lets see now….While many of us were abroad, including 60% (no joke) of the Minister’s in Kuwait, a small little thing happened that killed say 2-3 people and resulted in a small misunderstanding between the government and certain MPs. The newspapers referred to it as a “hospital fire” but we all know how the media exaggerates, so we’re going to call it a splinter THAT JUST HAPPENED to kill 2-3 people. Our MP’s took this to no man’s land and decided to increase their already launched attack on the Minister, with a vigor. She resigned, with praise that she did the right thing. The next morning, we ‘discover’ it was an act of BUKHOOR!

We love Kuwaiti newspapers. I think they’re great. I just can’t keep up with them anymore, I live abroad for a couple of years, thinking that nothing will change-I guess I was wrong-we’ve increased the number of newspapers to a crazy number, all of who insist that the only thing to report on is “His Highness the Amir received today,” and just for fun, include all the ministers, head’s of government departments, oh and sometimes announce the apologies of former officials who none of us barely remember (how can we the government doesn’t last that long to remember who’s in it now!) that they can’t receive people in their diwanniyas!

This has been an effective three weeks for the Kuwaiti economy I can tell you. We’ve hit a record number of RUN-A-WAY companies who’ve decided to form ‘anti-Kuwaiti’ front as some officials say, and decided to reallocate THERE MULTIMILLION dollar companies to different countries who seem to offer them better incentives. I think they’re wrong, where better to invest than Kuwait? Picture our slogan, “Kuwait…where everything goes.”

And Today, Luciannio Pavarotti died.

So as you can see we’ve had a great and productive three weeks. We hope you felt the great presence of our country’s continued strife to the better.
