The Half a Million “Opus 7” in Kuwait!
31/03/07 17:11 Filed in: Fashion

For all watch and jewelry lovers, you are less than two weeks away from “The Basel World Watch & Jewelry Show.” The Basel Show (located in Switzerland) is going to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. Expectations say that this year is going to be the biggest show ever. The Basel Show is going to contain almost 30 percent of the world watches and jewelry, which is worth $20 billion. After watching an interview with Harry Winston’s CEO, Mr. Hamdy AlShatty, Harry Winston will launch the “Opus 7” which will be the surprise of the Basel Show. (Harry Winston is considered one of the world’s oldest jewelry brands in the world and yet the famous.) What’s so unique and special about the “Opus 7” watch is that there will only be a production of 6 watches, one in every continent, “The Opus is a concept based on Harry Winston's idea of creating, each year, an exceptional timepiece in partnership with one of Switzerland's most gifted independent hierological creators.” The designer of the watch can’t design any other watch’s during the rest of his life. Believe it or not, one of the six watches is going to be in Kuwait! Already all of the 6 watches are sold out and they will be receiving them after the show. The watch is worth $500,000.
The limited edition “Opus 7” six pieces are going to be heading to The United States, Japan, Russia, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Kuwait.
Personally I know for a fact that I would love to be there and I’m sure anyone interested in watches and jewelry would love it as well. The Show will be held from the12 of April - 19 of April. Enjoy!

WE WENT TO STARBUCKS VERDUN AFTER THE EXHAUSTING WEEKEND, AND FOUND IT TO BE STARBUCKS MISHREF
Why are Kuwaitis frequent travelers? A couple of years ago, families (or at least our families) used to travel in the summer vacation, spending the holiday all together as a family. From time to time, a short trip on spring or Eid was useful to freshen up a bit and relax, since many people traditionally only travel during summer.
Nowadays, any short vacation (or long weekend) became a window to travel to Beirut, Dubai, Sharm El Sheikh, and etc. Earlier, short vacations were handy for family gatherings and trips to chalets or resorts for a change.
Today, Beirut and Dubai are for weekends, while London, Paris, and Milan are intended for five-day vacations; as if one is going to his beach house to loosen up.
Is it the hectic Kuwaiti routine that’s filling up those airplanes, or is it the excess of Dinars?

NEWS ALERT: STUDENTS AT A US UNIVERSITY DUE TO STRIKE AGAINST US POLICIES IN IRAQ
March 29, 2007: Medford, MA; Tufts University:
It has been officially announced here today by the Tufts Alliance for Peace and the Tufts Community Union (Student Government) that students of this prestigious institution will begin a ‘Walk-Out’ strike on April 19, 2007 for an indefinite period as the community’s response to President’s Bush unwillingness to cooperate with Congress and his continued rejection to ending the Iraq War.
The ‘Walk-Out’ strikes entail that the university’s entire student body (7,000 students) would launch a civil non-cooperation movement by “setting aside normal academic routine.” The university’s academic council is due to meet today to discuss the administration’s response and the repercussions of the intended ‘walk-out’ on the university.
A major problem that already faces the strike is time. Not only does it coincide with the university’s annual open-house reception to welcome incoming students, but is also only ten days away from the final exam period.
Of historical significance, “walk-out” strikes by students in the Boston-Metropolitan area have known to have direct impact on US policies. The thirty-five day ‘walk-out’ of 1969 held in Harvard Square by students of: Harvard, MIT, Tufts, and Boston University forced upon the White House to announce its willingness to discuss with congress a withdrawal plan from Vietnam to take over the course of two years, triggering the end of the Vietnam War.
Buzberry.com will be following this important event, and will update you with more news in due course.

Jaber Stadium 99% Done!
28/03/07 19:20 Filed in: Kuwait

At last Jaber Int’l Stadium (cost for a reported 56m KD) is almost done! The stadium holds up to 60,000 spectators, and the project is accompanied with a parking lot which has space for 6000 cars – so every 10 people have to squeeze into one car, and don’t forget about the reserved parking spaces for VIPs and Shiekhs – as you all know. The stadium is 99% complete, and the keys will be handed this summer. These are some recent pictures with the lights on at night and the stadium from the inside. Enjoy! Grazie!

Sadly, LAU’s Dunkin Donuts will be closing by the end of this month. When I asked Ramzi (the guy that works at Dunkin Donuts) about the reason for closing, he told me that their business is not performing well because they only depend on LAU students; which means that they only work 5 days a week since there is no school on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. I really can’t imagine going to the university without passing by Dunkin Donuts, gladly I am graduating soon!

Sonyericsson Better Than Ever!

This is a new phone introduced by Sonyericsson. We still don’t know when will it be available in stores, but rumor has it that it will be before Apple’s iPhone (end of second quarter 07). You might visit Sonyericsson’s website to check it out, but as usual they don’t announce new phones until they are ready to sell them.
We still don’t know the exact features but as we can notice in the pictures that it is as small as the SAMSUNG PP310, as sexy as Nokia’s Soroco and perfect as any Sonyericsson’s phone, plus a 3.2 mg-pixel cybershot camera, and with 2GB storage, we expect many more.

Disoriented Definition of Fashion
26/03/07 21:52 Filed in: Fashion

As we evolve, our dress code develops with us; our food choices become more extravagant, our interests change, and most importantly our ability to style ourselves expands. But the question is: When did this process of styling ourselves become so outrageous? When did our sense of style become so disturbing to the point that we have managed to remove the “t” from “taste” to add a “w” to create a “waste”?
Whether talking about men or women, the definition of fashion changed a lot in the previous half-a-century. Every decade had its own significance in terms of the fashion culture and each of those decades was a step to a trendier era, that is the present day. However, who knew that those steps would lead to an era of fashion disaster? I mean come on ladies and gentlemen, look around and watch how disgraceful we’ve become and think back to the days when Marilyn Monroe wore her beautiful white dress. It was a fashion sensation, which not only made her a sex symbol; it made her a fashion goddess for she single-handedly transformed fashion from a conservative rigid look to a more flamboyant curvy phase. Why, because it looked good, it was more feminine, and it enhanced the appearance of women around the world, unlike what women are trying to do today.

Creamy Cups
25/03/07 21:31 Filed in: Food

A couple of weeks ago, I heard about something called Creamy Cups. I felt it was something new to Kuwait, a one of a kind idea. Moreover, I emailed the Creamy Cups staff and they were really helpful in providing information about their unique business.
Creamy Cups started off recently, last Wednesday, inspired by one member who is known among her friends for baking special cupcakes that are ‘terribly delicious’. Later, the idea of the business arosed. Today Creamy Cups brings together four girls (ages of: 16,18,19,20) whom bake, assemble, package, and deliver tasty homemade cupcakes.
Creamy Cups only offer cupcakes for the time being, and they come with two flavors: Chocolate and Vanilla + your choice of fillings and toppings (Oreo, flake, marshmallows, etc).
What’s really unique about this group is that not only are their products simple and homemade, but also it’s run by the group itself through SMS and e-mail only (at least for the time being). To place an order, one has to order no less than 8 cupcakes; meanwhile the price of a dozen is 4 KD (some might see overvalued, I think it’s worth a try). In addition, the order takes about 48 hours processing before delivery.
I really liked the idea of the group, and it isn’t about advertising at all, I even don’t know who is behind Creamy Cups; but I really think that’s it’s a great idea to fulfill your time with such hobbies. I really applaud the girls for the effort they have done, and with no doubt (even though I still didn’t try their cupcakes) I believe that they have something special.
Creamy Cups also offer unique packaging for special events and birthday cakes in form of large cupcakes.
I’m optimistic that the group will set an example to others, because they placed aside all barriers to pursuit their goal. And as they told me that they are “hoping to expand their business in the future”, I hope so, and wish them all the luck. Grazie!

For orders: Send an SMS to 9768902
Or Email: CreamyCups@hotmail.com (don’t forget to specify your order and include your name, number, and address).

I finally got the Sony Ericsson W880i! After waiting for a long time, it has been launched in Beirut with the sponsorship of Fadhel Shaker. The Phone is accompanied with Fadhel's new album. Apart from the tiny keypad buttons of the W880i, the phone is fabulously light and slim! So far (less than 24-hours) I give it a 10. I heard that It's recently unavailable in Kuwait, and found out that Al Rabt Communication Center -2405558- (located at Khld. ibn Alwaleed st.) do have a limited quantity available.

The Hulk is Back!

I was flipping the channels this morning, couldn’t sleep, actually I was exhausted after another boring weekend in Beirut but I didn’t feel like going to bed. I was really surprised to see that Hulk Hogan is back to the wrestling business as Hollywood Hulk Hogan. I couldn’t believe my eyes, genuine nostalgia! What’s really amazing that he still has his moves, sudden outbursts after he’s knocked down, and most importantly, the old-school style of shaking the opponent’s hands after a defeat. I remembered my father ten years ago, when he used to tell me that wrestling was all about acting, especially when Hulk Hogan starts to rip his “nylon” shirt apart. Grazie!

Each defines "beauty" diffrently. To some a painting or a piece of art is considered beautiful, while others enjoy mother nature and to them this is true beauty. ex Sunset scenery , a garden fulll of colourful flowers or a single rose, the stars & the sky). In my own opinion there isn't a true definition of beauty, it may differ from a person to another. I think Ms. Mellisa Theuriau the French news anchor should go under the catogory of "Pure Beauty"

URGENT:
The Lebanesse American University just cought fire in one of its buildings (Sage Hall), specificaly the computer lab. After getting my transcripts from the university, I saw my friend JBB running and screaming there's a fire, there's a fire!!!! I calmed him down and asked what's happening? He said there's a fire at Sage Hall in the chemistry lab. Its so funny how rumors start, some said the chemistry lab blew up, while others said it is a terrorist attack. After asking the guards, we have found out that what actually happend was that a PC battery burned and got the computer lab on fire. On the other hand, what was really terrifying, is that a 200g TNT was located at the AUB and AUH (American Univ. of Beirut -and hospital- respectively) yesterday!
P.S: This computer lab had PCs not MACs :P

Nutrition facts..
22/03/07 20:36 Filed in: Food

Coming back from the U.S., there are many things that may shock you when you're settling back home. One thing that really stood out for me was the lack of nutrition labels on the packages of most, not all, foods. It's more than a little shocking for me because I got so reliant on them in the U.S. and the fact that for the past few years the Kuwaiti society has been nothing short of obsessed with losing weight. And there have been many
different companies opening up dedicated to serving low fat foods and helping people lose more weight. Nutrition labels have all the information people need to judge for themselves how healthy an item is based on the number of calories per serving, how much fat, carbohydrates, proteins, sugars, etc. I don't want to advertise something that isn't completely true so I do have to mention that some brands or items do have the labels on
them. but why don't the others?

“Voilà!!” Finally you can have your own sculpture made from wax like the ones we all saw in Madame Tussauds. This is fun and you can use your sculpture as a part of the decoration at home. If you want it, you can order your wax figure from Madame Tussauds for only £150,000 ;PpP. It will take twenty professionals four months to complete your sculpture with every exact measurement. In addition, they will give you a DVD to show you the whole process of doing your sculpture + free delivery to the chosen location. If you have the money, DO IT.
P.S: To those who want to do it, don't fancy your dreams and believe they will put it in Madame Tussauds, unless you're HOT!

'A Poor Excuse for Being Lazy '
21/03/07 01:17 Filed in: Other

Mother’s Day, what’s it all about? Precious gifts, overvalued flower bouquets, and expensive chocolate collections; less than this, it’s mostly about appreciating the real value of motherhood. The roots of mother’s day extend back to a couple of centuries ago. During the 18th and 19th century, servants used to get a day off in order to visit their mothers.
However, mother’s day has become an intensely commercialized occasion. Flowers, greeting cards, nostalgic CD’s, and beauty products are amongst the arising marketed products during mother’s day. It is in human nature that when one seeks to honor something valuable in life, he/she tends to involve the market in one way or the other. For instance, when an employee wants to thank his employer he tends to offer a gift showing appreciation. On the other hand, the employer might have valued more work commitment and enthusiasm in return, rather than the gift he was offered.
What mother’s day really needs, is a re-launch of the idea, but ‘without commercial sponsors.’ No matter how businesses work hard to produce a wonderful warm gift which many moms would be fond of, in the end, every firm looks forward to earn and maximize revenue. People should focus on what mother’s day is really about, and not concentrating on buying flowers and greeting cards. Many mothers have been supportive to less fortunate moms, and many other organizations have been aiding orphans on a priceless occasion such as mother’s day. In addition, many mothers would more appreciate a homemade card, which demonstrates more thought and effort for a gift of appreciation.
In the end, I hope that people today tend to illustrate the significance of motherhood by contributing to soothe others’ (mothers) grief, for instance donating for HIV mothers in Africa, or at least thinking about orphans before purchasing pricey gifts.
I’m sure that everyone thinks that her/his mom deserves more than an expensive flower bouquet, but I’m also positive that mothers have raised their children decently and would be more proud to notice such values established into their children. Grazie!

It was in the middle of the night when I was playing XBOX, and after wining the U.S Open (Top Spin 2), I rewarded myself with a treat; frankly, the reward was a Kinder chocolate bar. Here is the highlight of the incident; I realized that the boy on the chocolate pack had changed! It wasn’t the same boy with big blue eyes. The picture above is the old boy (the one on the right is his picture today) and the new one is obviously down. I wonder why didn’t Kinder place a girl instead, for a change. I was notified that the 'old boy' (now in mid 40's) received only about £100 for the advertisement. I don't know if you realized it, but I just knew about it. Grazie!

Let me tell a really funny story about a friend of mine....When she
was in 5th grade the teacher changed her place and forced her to sit
next to a guy who she always made fun of because she couldn't stop
talking with her friends. One day during class my friend had
hiccups .When the teacher asked a question my friend overreacted and gasped at the same time with the hiccups while the class was so
quiet , so when she gasped it was in a huge voice and every one
started laughing especially the guy who was next to her. The worst
thing that after 6 years the guy still remembers that moment and he
keeps on teasing her , so karma does actually happen .

A Nation Of Schumachers!
17/03/07 19:03 Filed in: Cars

German drivers are on the pressure to slow down on their highways, unfortunately not for safety reasons but environmental. It has been reported that the so-called unlimited speed highways are pressured to reduce their speed limits in order to diminish CO2 emissions. Some highways and main-roads already have speed limits, however it seems that the speedsters have to give up their fast lane and cope to regulations. The German government hadn’t yet imposed any laws, since the pressure is from the EU, and not any other German organization. Frankly, the motorists have the environment second to the speeding habbits. In addition, German automaker ‘BMW’ states that it has already cut emissions of CO2 by 20-30% on their new cars, and reducing speed limits aren’t necessary. Grazie!

Not only the car will be the ‘most exclusive’ but also, the Brooklands will boast the ‘most-powerful’ engine of all time Bentley have ever built, with a V8 twin-turbo, 530 horsepower, 6.8 liter engine, and a six-speed transmission. Not to forget to mention that this luxurious coupe, which will easily fit four adults, will be hand-assembled throughout production. That’s probably THE dream car. Grazie!

James Bond Credit Card in Beirut!!
12/03/07 21:52 Filed in: Other

For the past two weeks, I have been doing my training program in a bank in Beirut. I never thought that I am a person that gets bored that easily because I have been doing the same routine over and over. My friends and I used to always argue about the fact that I’m an impatient person who gets fed up so easily. However, I always thought that’s a rumor but unfortunately I’m starting to believe it. Believe it or not, I’m starting to realize how I’m going to continue to work as a permanent employee. Anyways, back to our subject, after waking up at 7 :02 am (its so funny I set my alarm at 7:02 because seriously I think two minutes of extra sleep are really worth it) going through the same process every morning, “grumpy like hell I don’t even feel like smiling to my supervisor”, going to my desk and ordering a cup of tea.
Two hours of the same routine have already passed when something weird happened! A “Famous” Kuwaiti politician arrived and came to the private banking sector, were I was being trained for the time being. He came to my supervisor, I got introduced to him and my supervisor told him that I am a trainee, I excused my self to give them some privacy but the “ Famous Politician” refused and told me to stay. I didn’t argue with him since he insisted that I should stay. Without giving him much of attention, I continued on what I was doing and at the same time heard the discussion they had (they were very close to me). This is still not the important part! What’s so important and what actually SHOCKED ME was when he opened his wallet and wanted to “ cash in his check” this BLACK AMERICAN EXPRESS card made me blind with its reflection! I know that I have seen it some place, few second later, I remembered that I saw it in the movie “Casino Royale”, when James Bond walks into The Bahamian resort, goes to the reception, requests a room without a reservation, and simply hands them a black credit card. It was simply the same credit card! As soon as he left, I asked my supervisor about this credit card! He told me that was the centurion card! This card is a luxurious card that you can’t get willingly, which American Express offers to you. There are less than 10,000 cards in the world given to Celebrities and “Millionaires” basically. With this card you are able to buy whatever you want! By just swiping the card! It is UNLIMITED!
Quoted by my supervisor “7abeeb alby 3aloosh iza badak abraj il Kuwait feek teshtereehun bee hayda il kard”. The only one exception is that if you are going to have this card you must spend a minimum of $250,000 per year swiping from your card. After our conversation I went back to my work full of excitement! I started to realize that work isn’t boring anymore. The fact that I saw James Bond Credit card today was very interesting to me. I never know what I might see tomorrow. As a mater of fact, this thing makes me feel that I can’t wait to wake up next morning to go to work again.

12/03/07 19:47 Filed in: Interesting Stuff

Ranked as the world’s most expensive toilet, this decisive piece of art, which by the way comes in three different colors, is a toilet that will look good in any room of your house, not particularly in the bathroom. Equipped with a moveable spray massage, a constantly heated seat, an automatic air purifier, and a warm air dryer, it will make your bathroom time a pleasurable one. Most amusingly, it automatically opens the lid when it senses an individual approaching it and automatically flushes the toilet and closes the lid after the individual leaves the sensor zone. Priced at $3500 each.

Farewell Captain America
09/03/07 21:11 Filed in: Other

Ranked as one of the top ten best selling comic books of all time, Captain America is finally dead. After more than 65 years of battling with powerful villains, he has finally been written off the comic book and has been shot dead in New York at the age of 89. It’s so sad to have a superhero that many teenagers admire become the victim of a crime instead of the hero. So, farewell Captain America, I hope you get rewritten back to life, like they did to Superman.

First Buggati Crash

This photo is so disturbing, especially when you know that the car costs $1,000,000! The crash occurred in the UK; the guy was driving it while it was raining, then the super car slipped and crashed. For a million dollar car I think it should have a good traction system that will prevent it form slipping

Love & Respect
08/03/07 21:08 Filed in: Celebrities

According to what we have observed from the TV and from what we hear, a typical celebrity’s life is perfect in comparison with a normal person’s life.
True, Celebrities are famous, popular and extremely rich, but there's quiet a few disadvantages in their life.
For Ex.: They always have to look good even on a normal day out, they don't have enough privacy because of the paparazzi always following them around wherever they go.
Gossip will turn into rumors, which then are caused by exaggeration, which is also known as Chinese whispers, and rumors would haunt them for the rest of their life.
Another issue that celebrities are dealing with is relationships, that can't seem to work as planned. Marriages always tend to have short and terrible endings. Reasons for that issue are more likely because of lack of time that is being spurt together as a family or lack of trust and honesty. This would lead to depression and celebrities then get caught up by bad influences, such as drugs and alcohol. It would also lead to murder or suicide.
In conclusion, The person should accept who he/she is and what he/she is and the perfect gift in life is : NOT MONEY OR FAME BUT LOVE AND RESPECT FROM ONE ANOTHER .

Myth No. 10: Eating Late at Night Makes You Fat
Scientists have concluded that eating late at night won't make you fat unless you go over your calorie load for that day. Which means if your average calorie intake per day is 2000 calories, and you have eaten only 1500 calories that day and decided to have a snack at night that does not exceed the 500-calorie limit, you will not gain any weight.
Myth No. 9: Muscle Turns to Fat When You Don't Exercise
“Muscle is muscle and fat is fat and you can’t turn one into the other.” Which means, that when you stop working out, your muscles do no transform into fat, what happens is that your muscles remain muscles except that they become a bit loose which gives you the feeling of fat even though it isn’t.
Myth No. 8: Diet and Exercise Are All You Need to Lose Weight
Sorry for the disappointment, it’s not that easy. A huge factor in losing weight is having proper amounts of sleep. A sleep doctor studied the effects of sleep on the human and found out that in sleep-deprived individuals there was a lower levels of the hormone leptin in their blood, which tells us we’re full, and higher levels of the hormone ghrelin, which tells us we're hungry.
Myth No. 7: Natural Ingredients Make Shampoos Better
Not really, the natural ingredients are only used for sex appeal. They are used to give a better scent, a better look, and as a better marketable product.
Myth No. 6: Waxing Is Better Than Shaving
For Men: Nope not really, shaving is the best method of hair removal available. After you shave, you’ll see hair in a couple of days and the hair will grow back coarser.
For Women:
