Salam Fm! A new Islamic radio station in Kuwait. What's new about this radio station is that it only broadcasts Islamic "Anasheed". What's also distinctive and creative about this Islamic radio station is that it's the first radio station that puts an Ad on Marina FmHappy For some reason, I have always thought that Marina Fm is "munkar"; but I guess that it's not anymore. A Stab in the Back!

me720n

I’ve always favored MEA (Middle East Airlines) over Kuwait Airways and even Jazeera when traveling back and forth Beirut-Kuwait.
Apart from Kuwait Airways’ continued delays, I was once confronted with a situation when the flight attendant told me to find any empty seat and just sit there. There were no assigned seats, as if I was in one of Kuwait’s stadiums.
After this incident, I swore that I would do everything possible to avoid traveling on Kuwait Airways. I became loyal to MEA, until a couple of days ago, when I was left in a state of shock.
I asked the flight attendant to hand me my phone, which was placed in an outer-pocket of my bag stored at the overhead stowage. Hold, your horses! I know it sounds that I am so lazy. Actually I didn’t want to disturb the passengers next to me. But to my surprise the attendant stated: “ I am so busy, I have a lot of work, get up and get it.”
I was so frustrated! But I do have a tip for everyone who confronts impolite attendants, just keep in mind that if they were qualified to be doctors, they would have been one, with due respect to all well-mannered blue-collars. Grazie!

They are at it, AGAIN?!

lindsay-lohan-funny-pics

I was first informed of it, when I saw it debued on Larry King Live the other day. The media has once again entered into a state of chaos because another American celebrity has decided to act stupid! Lindsay Lohan, was caught after speeding under the influence (DUI or whatever its called). So what?
Paris Hilton in jail…bla bla bla. Anna Nicole dies. Okay, mentioning it once is fine, but I can’t get it when the media spends decades investigating something that stupid! Some may argue that fans want to know more about their idols, well there are silly magazines that do just that: report on the lives of celebrities!
But hey, we shouldn’t be surprised because the U.S concerns itself with the sagas of useless people and the unfinished war on terror. Grazie!

Management 101

bus3

I received this email lately, and would like to share this short story with you all.

One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops - a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.

At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back.
Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it. The next day the same thing happened - Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the next.

This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer.
He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.
By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what's more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once again got on the bus and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" the driver stood up, glared back at the passenger, and screamed, "And why not?"
With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied, "Big John has a bus pass."

Management Lesson: "Be sure there is a problem in the first place before working hard to solve one."

Grazie!

The Source of Religion

religion

I’ve been thinking for quite sometime as to whether I should resume my discussion on religion which I concluded my first series on in February.

Recently, however, I visited a very interesting blog entitled “The Ultimate,” where its owner wrote a very impressive viewpoint entitled “A Voyage Into Religion.” I thought it would be worthwhile to share given the interest that it received and the good caliber of debate it spur.

I’d like to thank Ayya for taking the time to write that article and being so responsive to the comments we’ve all posted.

Recitation from The Satanic Verses

Given the interest, yet the lack of fully understanding just how controversial the plot of The Satanic Verses, Rushdie’s famous book is, I thought it would be appropriate to share this clip where Rushdie himself recites a small part of the book in a public lecture.

This may sound very provocative, but remember,
“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”—Aristotle

Controversial Author: Now an OBE!

rushdie

As per the annual custom, the Queen of England has announced her list of this year’s figures who will be knighted by receiving the title ‘Officer of the British Empire’ or OBE. The most controversial person on the list, is Indian native, Salman Rushdie-world celebrated author, and crafter of the controversial book, The Satanic Verses.

Published in 1988, the book has been received with harsh criticism across the Muslim world, and trigerred a fatwa of
takfir by Aytollah Khomeini in 1989. Rushdie had been in hiding since then, and only appeared in public life nine years later after Iranian officials relented the fatwa.

Like his book, the announcement of Rushdie as an official holder of the OBE thus granting him the title ‘Sir’ and making him a member of the royal court, has been acutely denounced by Pakistan, Iran and a large number of Muslim states who have called for the boycott of diplomatic relations with the UK. The UK has yet to officially respond.

Is this decision a step in the right direction by grating free speech its rightful stand, or is it,
as put by Pakistani Minister for Religious Affairs, Ejaz-ul-haq, that such actions are “the root causes of terrorism?”

BBC Hails Good News!

download

While reading BBC News online, I came across the headline, “Scientists find bird flu antibody” which absolutely shocked me! Bird flu killed approximately 180 thousand people in less than 4 years hopefully, and now will be a thing of the past. Scientists are certain yet, but are very optimistic towards this finding. Professor Antonio Lanzavecchia, of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine-Switzerland, stated “the antibodies have already proven effective in the lab and in mice and he is confident that they could be used in humans.” For all of you chicken lovers out there, the BBC just gave you the green light … so pig out!

1st Warning!!

warning 1

A couple of days ago I was arguing with MHB on the limit that we should have in our articles for Buzberry. I was so pissed because every time we should consider young kids in our writings. I hate this idea. I actually don’t want kids to enter our website! I’m not promoting porn but what’ the matter when I posted the famous comparison of which is better chocolate or sex! MHB told me that some of his friends that I totally respect were pissed because it is cheap! I respect their way of thinking but, the thing is if you don’t like it, don’t read it! I JUST DON’T CARE. The thing that made me crazy is that FAH and MHB rejected the idea of AJK posting an article about Jessica Simpson talking about Britney and Cristina Aguilera should wear panties! FAH talks about liberalism and freedom and that shit, but he doesn’t apply it!! NOW don’t ask me how. FAH is a dictator! But the thing is no more dictatorship! Trust me I will kick your ass if you fuckin disagree with any other article posted by anyone in the team. I don’t care if you’re the chairman! I will turn the table and name SFA as the president! This is just a warning! Also, I want u guys to act fucking normal and enjoy life! I don’t give a damm shit if no one checks Buzberry!! Just lets post what we want and experience in Beirut. Every one of us has a story, which I love to share without restrictions! Also, SFA should post the poem about the Iraqi people! Which when this fuckin liberal saw it almost collapsed from anger because its about Iraq!! MHG, don’t be fuckin silly! The article about the queen was taken from “the Sun”, they did not explain how her majesty knights people!! So stop making yourself the most knowledgeable person on earth! And u AJK STOP TALKING ABOUT MARADONA & SAYED HASSAN NASRALLAH ( I know he is a great leader just get over him!!)!! AND YES KIKI YOU ARE THE BEST!! And PLZ KTV STOP THIS SHIT EVERY THURDAY NIGHT WHEN YOU SHOW US THIS PIECE OF SHIT “WOROUD” WHOM SOMEONE CALLED A TV HOST.

“I WANT TO BE A LEADER!”

070107_oprah_hmed5p.hmedium

Two weeks ago I was watching TV and came across one of the most emotionally driving documentary entitled, “Building a Dream.” The documentary featured Oprah Winfrey’s five-year journey to erect and recruit the students of Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. The project was originally launched by Oprah Winfrey’s public pledge, proclaimed in front of Nelson Mandela, to build a state-of-the-art school for girls in South Africa with an endowment of 10 million dollars.
In watching the documentary, one becomes aware of two pivotal truths that we often overlook, or take for granted: (1) The power of education (2) being thankful and content for what we have. The students, many of who featured in the documentary came from poverty struck backgrounds. A large number of students lived in houses with no electricity or indoor plumbing, and almost all of them had lost a parent to HIV/AIDS or some alternate type of turbulent death. The girls are on average, 13 years old.
Watching the determination of these young girls drives you to get into direct contact with your humanity. Regardless of their backgrounds and hardships, they nevertheless are students who have excelled in school and provided help to their colleagues. A specific student, who is 12 years old, offers a poetry class after school to her peers, and while she comes from a very poor background, she does so for free! The girl that caught my attention was Zohe, 12 years old. In her interview she proclaimed, “South Africa should have a women president women because women can multi-task,” and with an unequivocal persistence announced, “I want to be a leader!” To my friends’ disarray and ultimate surprise I retrieved strength from low in my lungs and yelled, “YES!!!”
The academy is a true symbol for hope and leadership in our poverty struck, war-hidden world. For such spirit and passion to be found a land that only recently was able to overcome bigotry and hate is a breath of fresh and positive air to us all. You can support the academy by visiting their website and making a donation to one of its myriad causes. You can also order the DVD featuring the “Building a Dream” documentary, which I feel is a MUST SEE FOR ALL.

Sadly, LAU’s Dunkin Donuts will be closing by the end of this month. When I asked Ramzi (the guy that works at Dunkin Donuts) about the reason for closing, he told me that their business is not performing well because they only depend on LAU students; which means that they only work 5 days a week since there is no school on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. I really can’t imagine going to the university without passing by Dunkin Donuts, gladly I am graduating soon!

LAU on FIRE!!!!!

DSC00045

URGENT:
The Lebanesse American University just cought fire in one of its buildings (Sage Hall), specificaly the computer lab. After getting my transcripts from the university, I saw my friend JBB running and screaming there's a fire, there's a fire!!!! I calmed him down and asked what's happening? He said there's a fire at Sage Hall in the chemistry lab. Its so funny how rumors start, some said the chemistry lab blew up, while others said it is a terrorist attack. After asking the guards, we have found out that what actually happend was that a PC battery burned and got the computer lab on fire. On the other hand, what was really terrifying, is that a 200g TNT was located at the AUB and AUH (American Univ. of Beirut -and hospital- respectively) yesterday!

P.S: This computer lab had PCs not MACs :P

Wax in.. Wax out!

london_cny_chan203_203x152madtus_lg

“Voilà!!” Finally you can have your own sculpture made from wax like the ones we all saw in Madame Tussauds. This is fun and you can use your sculpture as a part of the decoration at home. If you want it, you can order your wax figure from Madame Tussauds for only £150,000 ;PpP. It will take twenty professionals four months to complete your sculpture with every exact measurement. In addition, they will give you a DVD to show you the whole process of doing your sculpture + free delivery to the chosen location. If you have the money, DO IT.

P.S: To those who want to do it, don't fancy your dreams and believe they will put it in Madame Tussauds, unless you're HOT!

'A Poor Excuse for Being Lazy '

145441296_f7380de154
Mother’s Day, what’s it all about? Precious gifts, overvalued flower bouquets, and expensive chocolate collections; less than this, it’s mostly about appreciating the real value of motherhood. The roots of mother’s day extend back to a couple of centuries ago. During the 18th and 19th century, servants used to get a day off in order to visit their mothers.
However, mother’s day has become an intensely commercialized occasion. Flowers, greeting cards, nostalgic CD’s, and beauty products are amongst the arising marketed products during mother’s day. It is in human nature that when one seeks to honor something valuable in life, he/she tends to involve the market in one way or the other. For instance, when an employee wants to thank his employer he tends to offer a gift showing appreciation. On the other hand, the employer might have valued more work commitment and enthusiasm in return, rather than the gift he was offered.
What mother’s day really needs, is a re-launch of the idea, but ‘without commercial sponsors.’ No matter how businesses work hard to produce a wonderful warm gift which many moms would be fond of, in the end, every firm looks forward to earn and maximize revenue. People should focus on what mother’s day is really about, and not concentrating on buying flowers and greeting cards. Many mothers have been supportive to less fortunate moms, and many other organizations have been aiding orphans on a priceless occasion such as mother’s day. In addition, many mothers would more appreciate a homemade card, which demonstrates more thought and effort for a gift of appreciation.
In the end, I hope that people today tend to illustrate the significance of motherhood by contributing to soothe others’ (mothers) grief, for instance donating for HIV mothers in Africa, or at least thinking about orphans before purchasing pricey gifts.
I’m sure that everyone thinks that her/his mom deserves more than an expensive flower bouquet, but I’m also positive that mothers have raised their children decently and would be more proud to notice such values established into their children. Grazie!

James Bond Credit Card in Beirut!!

sde
For the past two weeks, I have been doing my training program in a bank in Beirut. I never thought that I am a person that gets bored that easily because I have been doing the same routine over and over. My friends and I used to always argue about the fact that I’m an impatient person who gets fed up so easily. However, I always thought that’s a rumor but unfortunately I’m starting to believe it. Believe it or not, I’m starting to realize how I’m going to continue to work as a permanent employee. Anyways, back to our subject, after waking up at 7 :02 am (its so funny I set my alarm at 7:02 because seriously I think two minutes of extra sleep are really worth it) going through the same process every morning, “grumpy like hell I don’t even feel like smiling to my supervisor”, going to my desk and ordering a cup of tea.
Two hours of the same routine have already passed when something weird happened! A “Famous” Kuwaiti politician arrived and came to the private banking sector, were I was being trained for the time being. He came to my supervisor, I got introduced to him and my supervisor told him that I am a trainee, I excused my self to give them some privacy but the “ Famous Politician” refused and told me to stay. I didn’t argue with him since he insisted that I should stay. Without giving him much of attention, I continued on what I was doing and at the same time heard the discussion they had (they were very close to me). This is still not the important part! What’s so important and what actually SHOCKED ME was when he opened his wallet and wanted to “ cash in his check” this BLACK AMERICAN EXPRESS card made me blind with its reflection! I know that I have seen it some place, few second later, I remembered that I saw it in the movie “Casino Royale”, when James Bond walks into The Bahamian resort, goes to the reception, requests a room without a reservation, and simply hands them a black credit card. It was simply the same credit card! As soon as he left, I asked my supervisor about this credit card! He told me that was the centurion card! This card is a luxurious card that you can’t get willingly, which American Express offers to you. There are less than 10,000 cards in the world given to Celebrities and “Millionaires” basically. With this card you are able to buy whatever you want! By just swiping the card! It is UNLIMITED!
Quoted by my supervisor “7abeeb alby 3aloosh iza badak abraj il Kuwait feek teshtereehun bee hayda il kard”. The only one exception is that if you are going to have this card you must spend a minimum of $250,000 per year swiping from your card. After our conversation I went back to my work full of excitement! I started to realize that work isn’t boring anymore. The fact that I saw James Bond Credit card today was very interesting to me. I never know what I might see tomorrow. As a mater of fact, this thing makes me feel that I can’t wait to wake up next morning to go to work again.

Farewell Captain America

Untitled1

Ranked as one of the top ten best selling comic books of all time, Captain America is finally dead. After more than 65 years of battling with powerful villains, he has finally been written off the comic book and has been shot dead in New York at the age of 89. It’s so sad to have a superhero that many teenagers admire become the victim of a crime instead of the hero. So, farewell Captain America, I hope you get rewritten back to life, like they did to Superman.

Myths, Truths and Looking Good

snow-white-1
Myth No. 10: Eating Late at Night Makes You Fat
Scientists have concluded that eating late at night won't make you fat unless you go over your calorie load for that day. Which means if your average calorie intake per day is 2000 calories, and you have eaten only 1500 calories that day and decided to have a snack at night that does not exceed the 500-calorie limit, you will not gain any weight.

Myth No. 9: Muscle Turns to Fat When You Don't Exercise
“Muscle is muscle and fat is fat and you can’t turn one into the other.” Which means, that when you stop working out, your muscles do no transform into fat, what happens is that your muscles remain muscles except that they become a bit loose which gives you the feeling of fat even though it isn’t.

Myth No. 8: Diet and Exercise Are All You Need to Lose Weight
Sorry for the disappointment, it’s not that easy. A huge factor in losing weight is having proper amounts of sleep. A sleep doctor studied the effects of sleep on the human and found out that in sleep-deprived individuals there was a lower levels of the hormone leptin in their blood, which tells us we’re full, and higher levels of the hormone ghrelin, which tells us we're hungry.

Myth No. 7: Natural Ingredients Make Shampoos Better
Not really, the natural ingredients are only used for sex appeal. They are used to give a better scent, a better look, and as a better marketable product.

Myth No. 6: Waxing Is Better Than Shaving
For Men: Nope not really, shaving is the best method of hair removal available. After you shave, you’ll see hair in a couple of days and the hair will grow back coarser.
For Women: Yes, its totally true, waxing creates scarring in that hair follicle from the constant pulling, and those hairs will diminish the number of hairs growing back.

On Church and State

hd-densus

The demarcation of church and state (i.e. the spheres of secularization and religion) is a grasping concept that invokes much debate: academically, personally, and intellectually. However, there are several pressing questions that have yet to be explored in-depth such as: Why the boundary of Church and State? Is there a clear-cut distinction among both? Why are they known to be opposing forces? To contextualize this debate, it is necessary to conceptualize this nexus.

Defining Religion:

Religion is a term that is derived from religio a term derived from Latin’s relegae. The premise is thus that one is bound to a higher being through objects of faith (i.e. prayer and piety) and concern themselves with the metaphysical (other than this lifetime). Religion is not a subjective attitude towards this higher being, but refers to specific doctrines and rituals shared and preformed by human collectivities (e.g. Hindus, Christian, Muslims) and such rituals can be “objectively” observed. For example, I can measure a group’s religiosity by examining their piousness in performing prayer etc…

Scent of a Woman

cimg0048

Located at the heart of Hamra Street, Al Hamra Perfumery, Established in 1997 is a quaint little store renowned for it’s unique perfumes. Madam Silva, the owner and worker at the same time, offers a wide variety of nearly 50 selections of Oriental perfumes and 50 Western readily prepared perfumes. She tampers with different kinds of Arabian-Gulf scents and eventually turns them into her most famed mixtures. The secret to this formidable scent is in the Lebanese mixture of perfumes assorted together to form a -one of a kind- blend of perfumes, and that is the reason why it became one of the most famous perfumeries in Beirut. As a matter of fact, the heavyweight customers of Al Hamra Perfumery are precisely Kuwaiti women. Sometimes customers ask Madam Silva for custom-made fragrances (or mixtures of scents), which will be customized only for the individual himself, and therefore won’t be sold at the market. SAK asked to make his own mixtures, which eventually turned out to be breathtaking, unfortunately it won’t be sold to anyone except SAK!

However, Mme. Silva states that her neighboring stores, such as ‘Al Qurashi’ or ‘Al Arabiya Lil Oud’, do not form that kind of a strong competition because they are already present in parts of the Arabian Gulf countries, and the market differs in Beirut. As for any marketing campaign planned, Madam Silva explains that no ads are needed, stating that word of mouth, or buzz, is the most decisive technique needed to advertise. Al Hamra Perfumery is well known for it’s magnificent selection of blends, which makes one of the most legendary scents smelled from a mile away.

For any other additional inquiries, please don't hesitate to call Madam Silva at (+961) 3 913814.

“Divided For God”

step-out-on-faith-by-WAK

“In my lifetime, I have always believed that God was Truth. Today I have found that Truth is God.”—Mahatma Gandhi

What is faith? How can it be tackled? And can we refer to ourselves as people of faith in this ever-pragmatic world that we inhabit? Does my religion have supremacy over yours? Are we at an ideological clash of no meeting point with “the other?”

Obviously, these questions are not to be tackled in one article, but they are certainly questions that we all face in our daily lives. Whether we choose to ignore them, or tackle them is what divides us into those who reason and those who submit. It divides us between those who attain faith through knowledge, and those who believe because they were told to. And we are thus divided.

In his famous book Faith and Belief: And the Difference Between Them, former Harvard theologian William Cantwell Smith asserts that today’s world rarely has people of faith, but rather we are people of identity. Muslims for example, are more pre-occupied with their Muslim identity as opposed to their Islamic faith. Let’s examine this with closer detail using the following example:

…Yet they call me a Muslim

_41078484_muslim.203

For fourteen years, like my colleagues and friends I underwent my Islamic studies course and for the most part exceptionally passed. Year after year the topics might have changed but the mechanism did not: Learn how to recite passages in the Qur’an, memorize the prophet’s teachings-hadeeth and explore religious doctrines as applied to the topic at hand. To many, this may be an appropriate methodology. True. However, the methodology applied is not what is in question, but rather, the curriculum is.

During that time the government of Kuwait concentrated its Islamic Studies curriculum to answer questions such as: Why is God great? Why did God create man? And finally what is expected of a devout Muslim. Many may perceive that this is enough. I was among them, until recently that is. It is important to note the theological questions such as: The divinity of God, the absolutism of the Qur’an, The prospects of jurisprudence-Fiqh and the historical evolution of Islamic thought was never incorporated in the Islamic studies curriculum.

A $750,000 Bird!!

ss

H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al Sabah received a unique gift from his son Sheikh Hamad. The falcon in the picture above is a rare $750,000 predator. The “meqter” is a unique falcon that is rarely found nowadays. Apart from its gorgeous appearance, the “meqter” is known for its nature in predatory moves, speed and hunting bustards (Habara). Usually used for hunting expeditions, this falcon adds a new experience since it is a scarce bird, which is not used commonly. The picture above was taken at the Moroccan desert last December when H.H Sheikh Sabah visited Morocco.

Missoni Hotel Kuwait…

kw

This is the first hotel of its kind in Kuwait. A fashion hotel or a boutique hotel is a very new addition in the region. Hotel Missoni (it was supposed to be cerrutti hotel) is part of a new joint venture between Missoni fashion house and Radizor SAS Hospitality. The management decision to spread out to East Asia and the Middle East brought us this beautiful hotel in Kuwait. The Hotel will be in Salmiya seafront and it is said to open its doors to the guests in the 4th quarter of 2007. The hotel would be paired by the Symphony Complex an eleven story office building and a two story shopping mall. The Hotel will include rooms that have a fantastic sea view, restaurants, spa, caffe, ball room and an out door swimming pool. All said I think this kind of projects will have a good impact on the tourism in the country. Finally, we can reserve to the foreigners who are visiting us rooms which do not have a graveyard view if you know what I mean.

Prove Your ‘BIG’ Love!

1
Since Valentine’s is just behind the corner, I discovered the ‘tallest’ way to show your love. Although I don’t believe in this myth and I had never given out any valentine’s gift, since I come from a conservative background (to be honest I’m not that conservative myself), however, I think that those 6-foot tall roses will make a hell of a gift! Originating from Ecuador, grown on a farm between two 9,600 ft volcanoes, those roses are able to live a longer life than normal ones, and most importantly acquiring blossoms up to 4 inches in diameter! That’s not all, now OrganicBouquet.com arranges the best package for a valentine’s gift. The 6-foot roses sell for $250 a dozen. Grazie!

A City Inside a City!

BFH_image4

This is the upcoming Bahrain Financial Harbour it will cost Bahrain $1.3 billion. They are creating a small financial city that provides simply everything that national and international financial companies need. Of course with an amazing waterfront view that is emphasized on by the investors and contractors. The harbour will include three main features, first the Dual Towers, which would be 52 storeys each with a panoramic view of Bahrain. The towers will offer office and commercial space to the financial sector. Second, the Financial Mall, which will illustrate a modern way of a shopping mall, it will contain Bahrain Stock Exchange, brokerage and trading firms, and other exclusive retail outlets. Last but not least the Harbour House, this is a blend between work and a modern life style. The Harbour House is linked by a suspended bridge to the Financial Mall, which will give access between the two buildings in a less time consuming manner. Moreover, the Harbour House is situated on the waterfront and it will have restaurants, cafes, waterways, and sea front walkways.

Now, after summarizing this marvelous idea we can conclude that countries in the region are flourishing before our eyes (not only in sports!) in the business sector which we dominated for so long. Given that we are veterans in this sector we should’ve had some expertise in the field of business. Someone would think that we will be more advanced than our brotherly competition in the region, but sadly we are not. We in Kuwait are blessed with money, which is a scarce resource in the world, so why don’t we have the ability to create such a thing? Well, I think that maybe business men thought Marina Mall and Jaber Stadium are enough to launch us to the 21
st century. However, if globalization and open markets are where modern businesses are heading, then we have to catch on from today because we are already a few steps behind. All my respect to Bahrain and I hope you reach all your goals for a modern civilized nation.

THE FIRST EMAILLL!!!

Rules & Regulations

For the last three weeks I’ve been checking my buzberry e-mail (ajk@buzberry.com) and simply found NOTHING, no one even bothered emailing; then BAAAAAAMMMMM!! There it is on the 7th of February 2007 I received the first email, a friend requesting me to post his email on our site. Since it was the first e-mail, I thought that no matter what the article was about I would share it with you, but after reading it I actually thought it was pretty interesting, take a look:
While some cities prohibit smoking in public areas and others (Singapore) ban chewing gum, Burano, a small island in Venice (Italy) enforces that every house should be of a different exterior color. And get this YOU DON”T GET TO CHOOSE the color of your OWN house. The mayor of this small village is the person who chooses which pastel color to apply on your home in order to maintain the harmony.
On the other hand, Vienna, the capital of Austria has different rules. And what are they you may wonder? Most of their buildings share this rule. Each floor of the same building should have windows of different shape. While some people believe that similarity is what makes things beautiful, others believe that distinction shows true colors.

An Experience to Forget

Logo-Qatar-Airways

People kept on stating the fact that Qatar Air is the next big thing. "You want to travel, fly with Qatar Air, it is an experience to remember" agencies told us. Well it wasn’t for me! You see, I have just been to Italy for the past two weeks which was THE experience to remember; however, the trips from and to our destinations were a disaster.

Obviously, I had a lot of choices on which airlines to choose from: Kuwait Airlines, Emirates Air, Qatar Air, even the Middle East Airlines were all good choices. Yet, Qatar was my first choice, and oh boy did I regret it. When you watch the advertisements of Qatar Airways on TV, you'd be astonished about their perspective on how to satisfy their passengers' comfort; however, in my experience and in both trips, they've managed to demolish mine.

58番目の札幌雪祭

335513638_4561c7f054_m

For about more than half of a century, the city of Sapporo, Japan, hosts the biggest winter event in Japan for the duration of seven days during February;
The Sapporo Snow Festival. People from all around the world meet up in Sapporo to participate in the festival which targets more than 2 million visitors each year. The participants become ecstatic to demonstrate their creativity throughout various sculptures and statues made from snow!
Some of us used to construct a snowman in childhood, for fun maybe? On the other hand those artists (even if they really weren’t professional artists) are putting a vast effort in building some illustrious monuments, statues, and sculptures that might melt down in a week or so. Inspired by 6 high-school students in 1950, the Sapporo Snow Festival welcomes its 58th edition today, which will end Feb.12. Don’t miss it if your there!
