Rising Talents

m_Taha

I recently came across an interesting initiative for those interested in modern Art. The “Art Department” an organization based in Australia, has for the past six years hosted an International Art Contest which allows for young and rising artists to showcase their work, connect with each other and attract international recognition to their talents. Young talents are encouraged to submit their work in four fields: Realism, Modern Art, Mixed Media and finally Digital Art.

The last of such competitions, held last year (this year’s door just closed last week) awarded first place to the picture I’ve tagged for this post, entitled “Whispering,” by Mohammed Taha, a Sudanese who was born and raised in Kuwait! It’s quite unfortunate that we don’t have similar programs in Kuwait and the Arab World, while Arabs are quick to gain recognition elsewhere!

Click here to visit the website, in particular if you may be interested in competing or connecting with others interested in the world of art. The cool part is that if you come across a submission that you really like, it’s up for sale!

A 'Delay' of Values?

rjo0084l

BA’s flight – Milan to London sector – was delayed several hours because a couple of Qatari royals (women) refused to sit next to strange men on the flight! The issue was resolved, after both the Italian authorities and Qatari diplomats intervened.

I understand that we all have different values and beliefs, which should be respected by others, but if Their Highnesses had arrived a little earlier at the airport, BA officials would tackled the issue by assigning them contiguous seats and that way the flight could have arrived ON TIME. OH, and a private jet would have done the job too. Grazie!

$200,000 for 15 minutes?!

bigshuttlechron

Lucky number six. Actually they’re more like stupid than lucky. I’d prefer not to be a pioneer in space tourism, riding the first tourist space shuttle, especially paying $200,000 for 15 minutes only!
Four Arabs, 3 citizens of the UAE (one lady) and a khaleejy Prince are among the six passengers who will experience the dark ‘suborbital space’ and view the earth with their bare eyes.

Space Suit…… $25,000
Training……... $50,000
Fuel………….. $75,000
Ticket………... $150,000
-----
15min Trip to space…. Priceless!
There are things money really can’t buy, for everything else there is ONLY American Express centurion card. Grazie!

Million

download

I received this fwd on my email lately:

Tala Khoury, a UAE businessman breaks all the records in license plates auctions. Mr. Khoury bought his car’s license plates (displayed above) for a record of 6.9 million USD.
It is said that the money behind the auction will be awarded to charity. Furthermore, Mr. Khoury also successfully auctioned on other unique license plates such as: 55, 45, 76, and 55555.
Tala Khoury declared that he was on the verge of bankruptcy five years ago, however, Gods will and the good fortune in the stock market kept him away from poverty.
Although it is really overvalued to buy such things with that amount of money, the objective is to support charity.
Our beloved Kuwait: Why are the elite (who have good ‘wasta&rsquoWinking entitled to get unique plate numbers, without doing something good in return? Grazie!

Ali, That's a Useful Hamster!

hamstershredder1

I was browsing for cool gadgets on the Internet when I crossed ‘hamster-powered shredder’. Unfortunately, it seems that not only we didn’t know a thing about hamsters in general (refer to AMK’s article Dead Hamsters Anyone? -on the ‘About Us’ category) but I also found out that others used a hamster’s stupidity to reach an objective.
If you trying to get rid of confidential documents, there is nothing better than a shredder with hamster poop, for everything else there is MasterCard. Google it AJK. Grazie!

CTRL + Quit

-1

I was at SFA’s watching TV when the news was on; they talked about a revolutionary e-cigarette developed by the Chinese of course. China is the home of 400 million smokers where the tobacco industry is worth more than $100 billion. Getting to the point. This innovative e-cigarette works on batteries, offering nicotine to the lungs within 7-10 seconds, and most interestingly it emits vapor-smoke. Therefore, it doesn’t only looks like a cigarette and feels like one, but also is an actual smoking experience. The prestige is that all in all, this e-cigarette isn’t bad for health. Meanwhile it acts as a substitute to nicotine patches, chewing gums, and inhalers.
The Chinese firm first introduced the electronic cigarette in 2003, and is hoping to double sales this year by expanding globally. The e-cigarette is available currently in China, Turkey, and in the Palestinian occupied territories and cost about $200. Grazie!

I Can't Get Alcohol

we-want-beer_web

Maybe 90% of you understood the title to imply that ‘I wanted to get alcohol but couldn’t’. Well, what I really meant was that I can’t get why people drink alcohol. I’ve always wondered what’s the good side to booze? Okay, these are the facts that I’m aware of: relief from stress, try to soothe problems, forget about something troubling; I still can’t get it.
I know that for a fact, alcohol is really bad for the liver, kidney, and other internal organs. Plus I really think it tastes bad. What’s really interesting about getting drunk, acting stupidly, and most importantly showing the whole world to how much of a jerk you are? Still, I’m trying hard….Still can’t get it.
One positive form of alcohol, I believe, might be wine, which gives a special taste to food, as some might think. While Islamic law embargoes alcohol 'haram', the question is one that relates to regulation since consuming alcohol is an issue that cannot be directly regulated by a superior entity, it is therefore best to banned. And Islamic Shari’a engenders the deficit in human nature (that they can't be controlled and will never act uniformly because people are the way they are!) and therefore alcohol consumption has been dealt with accordingly, by simply banning it. Why can’t people wait until they reach heaven (inshalla) and drink heavenly wine as much as they can? Regardless of one’s religious belief, alcohol is the reason behind many mental, social, and health problems why don’t you eliminate it and even avoid falling into it to begin with? I still can’t get it!
I really believe that banning (haram) alcohol is due to God’s wisdom, since people well never be uniform. Therefore, if people do not put that wisdom into consideration, at least keep in mind the reason for the banishing of alcohol which is to preserve human being not only from doing ‘haram’ but also to bestow human nature from repulsive habits. I still can’t get the idea! Grazie!

Dryer Balls..

dryerballsnewlr
I saw these balls on BBC news a couple of days ago and they really interested me. Technology never stops developing! Developed by the Chinese of course, this ball is able to save money spent on electricity and softeners, as well as maintaining the condition of fabrics.
In addition, the dryer ball is really cheap, it costs around $15 a pair. It was created to enhance energy saving consumption and replacing the everlasting fabric softners. The dryer ball is inserted in the tumble dryer where it separates the laundry while drying, which reduces the drying time. Plus, the balls retain heat and transfer them to the clothes to reduce the drying process.
Acting as a fabric softener substitute, the soft tips on the ball ‘massage’ clothes to naturally soften them. Truly there is a solution for most drawbacks, for everything else there is MasterCard! Grazie!

The Leader?

2camzbtsjpp3

I received an email from a friend yesterday displaying pictures of some of the most unique weapons. The email wasn’t clear enough, where it said “The leader’s weapon stockroom” in Arabic, while the stockroom was found by the U.S Army, indicating that the owner is probably 'Saddam'.
The picture above displays platinum and gold plated machine-guns. Meanwhile the picture down displays a golden plated bazooka-like weapon.
The photos haven’t been yet released to the press, as the email states. I have always heard about the existence of such weapons, which I saw at last. Grazie!

Summer Fun..

1

During the summer season in Kuwait I always loved the chalet days. I’m looking forward to go out to the sea and cruise around with a couple of friends in boats and enjoy every moment I have. I’ve always loved to try out new water sports such as parasailing, Skiing, and even scuba diving. Since we are welcoming the summer season, I found something that definitely can please all of you guys who are considered “ sea lovers”. It’s the Dolphin Boat, the Dolphin Boat is by far not like any ordinary boat, its shaped like a dolphin, and gives you exactly the effect of a dolphin. The Dolphin Boat can jump 10 feet in the air and even perform acrobatic tricks. It is a two-seated craft that can dive 2ft underwater for more than 15 seconds. The Dolphin Boat is 14 ft 10 inches long and weighs 1,000 lbs. It has a 175 horsepower engine. The cockpit has three quarters of an inch thick glass, the same used in fighter jets. It is about 20,000 KD. Which I personally think is a bit over rated, Other than that I can assure you it’s astonishing. Enjoy!

Check out it out….

Beirut Covered in White...

1

Yesterday at 11:15pm something rare occurred. Beirut was beautifully covered in white (it HAILED for more than 20 minutes!). People were fulfilled with excitement, all were out in their balconies taking pictures and enjoying this spectacular scene. What’s so weird is that few days ago people were out in short sleeve shirts welcoming the summer. These are few pictures which The Buzberry Team would like to share with you.

TOTO’s NEOREST: The Ultimate Innovation

hji

Ranked as the world’s most expensive toilet, this decisive piece of art, which by the way comes in three different colors, is a toilet that will look good in any room of your house, not particularly in the bathroom. Equipped with a moveable spray massage, a constantly heated seat, an automatic air purifier, and a warm air dryer, it will make your bathroom time a pleasurable one. Most amusingly, it automatically opens the lid when it senses an individual approaching it and automatically flushes the toilet and closes the lid after the individual leaves the sensor zone. Priced at $3500 each.
