Last night I had a chat with a friend about the upcoming World Cup. I asked him, who do you think will win the World Cup in 2010?

He said, let me share with you these interesting facts about soccer; they are in random order:

1) Germany won the World Cup when Italy were the hosts in 1990, and Italy won the World Cup when Germany were the hosts in 2006.

2) Italy played against France in the final of two major competitions, once in 2000, in the European Championships, and again in World Cup 2006. Both events witnessed a semi-final game of Portugal against France, and Italy against the host nation, it was Holland in 2000, and Germany in 2006. France prevailed as winners by a winning golden goal scored by David Trezeguet in 2000, who on the other hand was the only player that missed the penalty shot in world cup final in 2006.

3) When Liverpool won UEFA champions League final in 1981, a new Pope had been elected and Prince Charles just got married in that same year. In 2005, a new Pope was elected and Prince Charles got married again, and guess what Liverpool won the Champions League that year as well.

4) And finally, the last time North Korea qualified to the World Cup finals was in 1966 where England won the World Cup. Now coincidently, North Korea have currently secured their place in the 2010 World Cup….

So are you telling me that England are gonna win the upcoming World Cup?? Most probably Yes. He replied.

His calculations doesn’t make sense to me! He’s kind of saying that what goes around comes around. I hope not, I want Brazil to win the World Cup!

Nah!!!! Come on England, we have the best defenders in the world, rio, terry, johnson, cole, our center midfield? ha ha its the 2nd best…. lamps and gerrard, the only ones who are beter are spain, xavi ineista, we have a speedy right winger: Lennon, our striker is one of the best. WAYNE ROONEY! our only problem is our left winger, or striker partner, and the GK problem….. england dont have any good keepers, Ben Foster sucks, he cant do nothing in the air, he flaps the ball way, he doesnt punch it, he takes like 9459853048914383427 minutes to kick the ball away when a defender gives him a pass, ex. the derby: tevez, and comunity shield, james is really old, robinson sucks overall, green is our best bet and even he isnt tht gd…. they should bring me into the team ;)

England will win the world cup but not from you friend’s calculations, they will win because they have one of the best coaches in the world (Fabio Capello). And all the team is perfect except the goalkeeper, that is the problem with England they never had the perfect goalkeeper. But i really think that Ben Foster is better than Robert Green, he just need some time.

Well, I’d love to see England winning something, but.. GOD! Spain seems unstoppable. Don’t judge them on their performance on “kas elgarat”. When it gets real, Spain will destroy other teams!
