I swear to God this is unfair, unethical, and should be stopped. Ramadan is killing us at work! They have to reconsider swine flu, traffic, anything. Saudi’s have Ramadan off, kind-off.. We want that too..

i agree and think we should have Ramadan off and a week after eid vacation off as well . Just so that we can be psychologically prepared for after Ramadan!

Why don’t you guys take your vacation days during Ramadhan? Don’t get me wrong, I personally hate Ramadhan and hate working during Ramadhan, but we have to be realistic, and we can’t use Saudis as an example because you just DON’T want to be like Saudi Arabia. Taking a month off just like that is just bad business and doesn’t make sense.

P.S. I work from 8-2pm during Ramadhan, so enjoy your work hours :P

5alha 3la allah, i work from 8:30am-2:30pm and i always sleep after fajr prayer, and for those who said take ur vacation in Ramadan, then it would suck more, coz vacations meant to be fun, adventure, sleep, all that outta kuwait, what’s the point of taking a vacation and staying in here :S

sub7an allah. The prophet used to fight battles during Ramadhan, and some of us are too lazy to move their asses from home to work and back for a few hours of work. What a shame.

Yes Yousef, and some of talk as if they sacrifice their lives while fasting, and attack other people in Ramadan without really knowing what circumstances/obligations other people have.. Sub7an allah..

The dept head interviewed us one on one (two depts merged together and he wanted to get to know us all better) he asked me hows work during Ramadan.. I said I have no complaints! I mean I am working less hour (minus the food and water of course) but el7emdela I am enjoying it and not finding it difficult! I run out of time sometimes due to being social and all during this month but enjoying it mostly! Ramadan does not make me weak and sleepy ;-)

where do you work? from my experience Kuwaitis are just too damn lazy and they don’t want to do anything. whenever they’re asked to do something they really REALLY take their time doing it. and if we try to follow up on it to make them finish it sooner they feel pressure and just collapse.

anyways, its 7aram enkom ta5thoon ma3ash o mat7allilona. ‘being there’ in the office and not doing all the tasks youre supposed to do and efficiently is like not being there in first place. i’m not directing this to you… i’m just venting after my experience today. a whole department made out of failed people who are coming to the office only to get paid at the end of the month.

I do not agree with u, The Prophet Mohammed and Muslims used to fight in Ghazwat Bader in Ramadhan. Working in Ramadhan is part of worship and enshalla we will get more 7asanat during working. In addition Our Government reduce the working hours in Ramadhan so everything is simple.
I hope ppl will change their laziness thought about working in Ramadhan.

    Thank You

first of all, it is not appropriate nor acceptable that the whole country go to vacation for a whole month, imagine that you need to do something important, such as bank transfer for businees purpose or you need an important governmental documents such as getting the “il3ilaj bil5arij” documents.

Second of all, muslims went to their first battle in ramadan while fasting “GHAZWAT BADER”,

finally, god likes a person who works and benifit his society more than a person who is staying in the mosques, therefore you should consider such topic to think about. I think that this is a month that people are tested, and i think the test is not hard too, if you want to do something you can if you know how to manage responsibilities, but never think that i’m fasting so i can’t do anything!!!

I don’t know why people are jumping into conclusions here .. I don’t have to mention that some days I work 12 hours, nor am I obliged to tell everyone that at my work, the administration had opted for drastic measure and penalties DURING the month of Ramadan on tardiness; disregarding the fact that the whole department do work their asses off! And I think that I don’t have to mention that u have to add to all that the corrupt system of
our country which makes it impossible for someone to just follow certain procedures to live a normal
day and finish work. I’m not Going to mention where I work, but beleive me I’m no prophet, I’m
honest with myself, I’m not whinnig about it, but sometimes it gets really hectic. Qiyam prayer in one week, and arriving 1 minute late to work is a disaster, so can anyone tell me how to solve this dilemma?

Some of you said ok, work is part of
worship.. Shall I ditch qiyam? Or maybe I’ll just opt for what il sul6ana said, avoid such convos!

Alvaro, no need to get personal on us :P
First off, in your defence because i know your working hours and they suck…
Second, its not a matter of the government giving the entire country an “islamic” holiday or simply a 10 day vacation during the last 10 days of ramadhan, its a matter of what company you work at and how well they are treating you cuz even though many have the most difficult days at work, other ppl got off easy working 4 to 5 hours during ramadhan, others start their work at 9:30 which i highly believe is an extremely appropriate time to start work during normal days hence ramadhan :P
Oh and one more thing, time flies when you’re at work, much faster then when you’re home doing nothing… So thats a bonus..

    Salam,
Im Saudi and I work. This is so untrue and totally unfair. Saudi’s do work in Ramadan! In my company, we work from 10am till 3pm, which is fair enough I guess. Please correct that rumor. If you’re tired in Ramadan take it off or at least the last 10 days off.
So tell me do you really think that Banks, Telecom Companies, Investment Companies and Goverment Sectors just stop in Ramadan? haha nice one.

Saudi and proud to be one

alvaro…..if you have problems at work i really wish that your problems would be solved and things turn around to be much better. what i’m talking about is the idea of stopping the whole country for 30 days or even for 10 days……. and imagine if all doctors wanted the same vacation…..all policemen wanted the same vacation……nooooo way is that…….come on….. this is nonsense…….this my opinion……and you know what drives me crazy??? when well educated people talk about such issues not only about ramadan (for ex. isqa6 ilqoroth) !!!! how one earth is that…. i am not judging you but thats the way that i think and inshalah you can manage to go to alqiyam prayer, altaraweeeh, and reading the whole quran, and work at the same time….alahoma amin…..
