On February 11, 2010, the Kuwaiti government decided to revoke an entry-visa, previously issued to Dr. Madawi al-Rasheed, professor of anthropology at Kings College-London (For more on Dr. Madawi please visit her website, www.madawialrasheed.org). Dr. Al-Raheed was scheduled to participate in a strategy session hosted by a consultancy firm, Jusoor Arabiya and deliver a public lecture on political reform in the Arab world. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Buzberry, Dr. Al-Rasheed explains the reasons behind her visa’s revocation, and expresses her thoughts on Kuwait’s democratic history and its future.
We encourage you all to participate in debating this issue, and call on our fellow bloggers to carry this link for others to learn about this situation.

I don’t understand why a Saudi woman would need a ta2sheera to enter Kuwait? Had they revoked her Saudi citizenship?
At any rate, I’m glad people emailed her to tell her what an embarrassment for Kuwaitis this is, it really is an embarrassment wain ga3deen shda3wa shda3wa!

Thanks all, for your thoughtful comments and support. As you can tell from the interview, we missed out on listening to a learned scholar, with positive views on our country. When this trend of uncalculated decisions will end, is what we should now be thinking of!
