Let me share with you this incident. My friend really confuses me. He’s a very smart guy, very successful in his studies, yet one of his dreams is to drive a taxi cab.
I believe that he got this passion to drive a taxi car from Beirut (when we used to study there). Of course he couldn’t drive a taxi there, he’s simply not allowed to. Anyway, he called me 2 days ago and said “Guess what?” “what?” I replied. “my family leased a 12 seater bus for the company and I took it on Friday and went to Jileeb Shyookh area and looked for people who needed a ride!”
“Oh come on!You’ve got to be kidding“
“I swear I’m not making this up!” he replied.
“Okay tell me what happened?“
“Well I went to Jileeb Shyookh and saw a group of people from Bangaldesh, I asked them if they needed a lift and in a split second they were all in the Bus! They wanted to go to Hasawi(a place near Jileeb Shyookh). You see the problem is that I don’t know the way to Hasawi!! So I asked one of them for the directions, and the guy was like ‘who doesn’t know Hasawi?’ anyway, I told them that I’m going to charge you 200 fils and they didn’t actually mind, but when we reached our destination I turned back and told them because it’s a new bus I won’t be charging you anything!“

Aaaah my friend is very kind… “hehe you’re crazy!;p” I told him! He laughed and said “no wait.. I then saw a group of Egyptian men walking down the street, I pulled down the window and asked them, where are you heading?“
“To khaitan” they replied, “okay let’s go, 150 fils! They hopped in and we started chatting about several things. They turned out to be very respectful guys. When we reached khaitan I told them that this ride is for free, but they insisted on paying! I convinced them that this ride is for free because it’s their first time with me, however, I’ll charge them next time!”
That’s it!! It’s a dream come true, he became a taxi driver for a day!!

lol! great story and good to hear someone’s dream come true.
@ Ansam, Hassawi is in Jleeb area, go past Jleeb Police station and take a right at the round about, keep going till all the signs slowly turn from Arabic/English into Bengali and you’re there! :)

I studied in Beirut and I new one person who was fascinated by the concept or idea of driving a minibus taxi and I believe it is the same person that has been driving this bus in hasawi. The guy was nicknamed the “Bear” he would drive a famous route in lebanon from Za7la to Beirut, shouting at both points “Za7laaa Beirut, Beirut Za7laaa,” to attract innocent unknowing passengers. The story goes like this: The Bear would lure into his beat-up old minivan poor unsuspecting peasants of the side of the road promising a ride to their destination. However, some time deep into to the trip, he would suddenly roll up all the windows put on a gas mask and drug the passenger/s through the airconditioning ventillation system. He would then drive them to an old village where he would torture the passenger for days on end, keeping them alive, until at the very last moment, he would eat the victim bite by bite while he/she were still alive, hence the “Bear”! M! you should becareful before you go defending someone you dont even know, he might someday pick you up on the street to Hassawi! They say he can see the faces of all the victims he had eaten sometimes when he looks in the mirror! He is also a mixture of Beast and human, but more beast.
