The weekend started on a low and was a bit boring, so I decided to watch movie trailers on Apple TV. The first movie on my list is Salt (action, thriller), starring Angelina Jolie. The movie tackles CIA and Russian secret service confrontation; however, we’ll have to wait for this potential blockbuster till the summer. Another movie which looks amazing is Green Zone (Matt Damon – action, thriller, war) is based around the war in Iraq and  The US Army.

For those who are looking for a family movie, then you have to see the remake of Karate Kid, which is also called The Karate Kid (action, drama), and Mr. Han is Jackie Chan this time. It is also worth mentioning that Oliver Stone has directed a movie starring Michael Douglas. I believe Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (drama) , once it’s released, would be one of the year’s greatest; or maybe not because its trailer does not reveal anything about the synopsis, but it really looks great. ‘The film is a sequel to the 1987 Academy Award-winning film Wall Street, and the first sequel Stone has directed.’

It has been a while since the last time I posted about food. I decided to stop posting about food for 2 main reasons. 1) I was on a strict diet 2) I felt that a lot of people were annoyed with the amount of food posts on blogs .. Anyway, I lost more than 9 kilos now and I think that I deserve a reward. I was fortunate to receive a package from the owners of tmreya with samples of different kinds of dates(tmreya). As you can see below, the box had 7 different kinds of tmreya and 2 dips. Each tmreya came with a different filling. I’ll be very honest with you, I don’t know the kinds of tmreya that were in the box, but I can assure you that all 7 were really good. I went over the menu and noticed that they have tmreya with chocolate, Oreo, marshmallows, darabeel, corn flakes, and much more. I tried what came in the box with both the harda dip and the other dip which tastes a bit like a modified version of harda. No he didn’t, but I don’t know how the love story between The Touareg and FAH had started (the FAH/Touareg affair here). After months of speculation, it seems that VW will not completely revamp their popular SUV. A couple of minor changes will do.

Wait! Aren’t they in the wrong market? Puma unveiled today a new phone called the Puma Phone. I just read a review about it and watched a short video on gizmodo, it seems that Puma are so damn serious about entering the smart phone market. I actually liked the phone. The menu/user-interface seems great. They have a new feature called the red carpet where you can add or edit your favorite apps.

Of course, Puma have added some special features for sportsmen such as a run tracker and a bike tracker. The Puma phone is created by Sagem and it has a 2.8 inch screen, 3.2 mega-pixel camera, built-in FM radio, GPS, and a compass. In addition and just like the iPhone and most of the new smart phones, the Puma phone will have it’s own app store. The phone is expected to be launched in April.

One more thing…

The phone has a solar panel on the back which will obviously help the battery last longer. Click here to watch the video

After 25 years, a number of artists gather again to remake ‘we are the world’ song but this time it’s for Haiti. The song was aired for the first time on the 12th of February during the opening ceremony of the winter Olympic games in Vancouver. It’s worth noting that the artists gathered in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios) and they have also added a part from the original ‘we are the world’ song where Michael Jackson was singing. On February 11, 2010, the Kuwaiti government decided to revoke an entry-visa, previously issued to Dr. Madawi al-Rasheed, professor of anthropology at Kings College-London (For more on Dr. Madawi please visit her website, www.madawialrasheed.org). Dr. Al-Raheed was scheduled to participate in a strategy session hosted by a consultancy firm, Jusoor Arabiya and deliver a public lecture on political reform in the Arab world. Did you renew your civil id? I heard that they are going to apply a 100 KD(around $347) penalty if you didn’t renew it before the end of this month. 100 KD is a lot of money.. I am not sure if the same thing is going to be applied on the expats.

A good friend of mine, is an employee at NAS and has been nagging that we all use their services… Sooo I decided to go for it, the first service I used was the Hala service. I used this service for work and our guests were extremely impressed of how their entire arrival procedure was handled.

Then I decided to use NAS personally to arrange for my travel instead of calling up the travel agent. My friend said I could just email all my flight details (je.arazas@nascorporate.com) and that they would take care of it from there. So I emailed them the dates and destination, in return I got a nicely set table of all my flight options, timings, and prices. How convenient!! I didn’t have to speak to anyone on the phone and be on HOLD for HOURS!!! The icing on top….. they answered me even off of office hours!!

Who could have thought that there would be such a service in Kuwait… I really am so impressed. They’re prices are quite often lower than those you find online and they provide you with the most convenient options. All I can say is khosh NAS… truly devoted people!

Twelve graduating students in Beckmans college of design have designed furniture for a 48 sqaure meter apartment in Stockholm. Those students look at things from a different prospective. They believe that not every chair is a chair and not every apartment is an apartment. They came up with some designs that in my opinion are worth looking at. The designs look great and I hope the chairs and tables are convenient. I also liked the videos that they’ve created. Have a look at the video below.

I’ve been missing something lately. I don’t know if you guys have noticed, or even if some of you are aware of the reasons behind his absence. It’s like having Buzberry without FAH. Al Watan TV can’t be operating, especially on Saturday nights, without Abdulwahab Al Essa (News Anchor / Debate TV Show host). Although he isn’t even 25 years-old yet, his presence is felt and I do believe he has a bright future ahead.
