Okay, I do agree that bachelors have to be separated from families in cinemas due to religious reasons etc… and that if it were up to the company itself they would have this rule broken and tossed from their rear window.
However what I don’t understand is if they are segregating bachelors, while giving the families better seating areas, then why should the bachelors be paying the same amount of money as the families. This is how I see it: Pay more for a better service, and in this case better seating means a better service. If every individual regardless of gender and marital status pays the same amount, then they should all be getting the exact same treatment and therefore be seated in the same area. I repeat; it is unfair that bachelors should be paying the same amount as the families while getting a worse service. More specifically in the 3D IMAX screens, since it is the ultimate experience for any customer to be seated further back due to the vast size of the screen. Those who sit in the bottom half of the seating area (bachelors) lose the sense of the “ultimate experience” because the screen becomes too big to comprehend the movie in a single eye sight, and therefore that’s what I would like to call, money down the drain.
As mentioned earlier since this is out of the company’s hands and has to do with religious law imposed by a stronger authority in this country, I would suggest the following:
1. Make it cheaper for bachelors in cinemas where they are seated in the bottom half of the seating area.
2. Many venues in Kuwait have a day for “females” and a day for “families only”, and since families are getting the better deal in the Kuwaiti cinemas, create a “bachelors day” for entering cinema, where there will be no seating segregation. It should be publicized and well known to every cinema customer, for if a female comes or family members were to enter the cinema on that day, they would already know in advance that it’s a “bachelor’s day”.
3. Specifically, for the 3D IMAX theatres, I highly recommend instead of separating the families horizontally, giving the ultimate experience to the families, you should split the seating area vertically in some way in order to make it fair for all parties to be satisfied.
4. As a suggestion, children that are old enough to understand a movie but not that old to go out by themselves should be given cheaper tickets if entering with an elder guardian, since it could get really expensive for a parent to take his children to a movie.
I just hope someone hears my suggestions, and things start changing. What do you think? What problems have you encountered from the cinescape Kuwait?
